Risk for fluid volume deficit related to diarrhea and infection.

Goals

Patient will maintain adequate hydration as evidenced by stable vital signs and normal urine output. Patient will verbalize understanding of the importance of completing the full course of antibiotics and infection control measures.

Interventions

Administer prescribed antibiotics and monitor for side effects. Monitor fluid intake and output, and provide oral or intravenous fluids as needed. Educate patient on the importance of completing the full course of antibiotics and practicing infection control measures such as hand hygiene. Encourage patient to attend follow-up appointments to ensure resolution of the infection.

Evaluation
