Goals
Patient will remain free from infection as evidenced by normal temperature and absence of signs of systemic infection. Patient will demonstrate understanding of the importance of completing the prescribed antibiotic regimen.
Interventions
Administer prescribed antibiotics and monitor for effectiveness. Provide patient with a clear liquid diet initially, advancing as tolerated. Monitor for signs of complications such as sepsis or abscess formation. Educate patient on the importance of completing the full course of antibiotics.
Rationale
These interventions aim to eradicate the infection and prevent complications associated with peritonitis.
Evaluation
Patient’s infection status and adherence to the antibiotic regimen will be monitored during follow-up visits.
